Honeycomb was created for the hive biome and the Shadow Honeycomb was made for the shadow hive. When broken it gives you some honey instead of the block itself. You can not get this block in survival. The texture went through several changes to make the yellow just the right amount. For the shadow version, it was just tinted black.
